Apart 180 HSB

Apart 180 HSB
The Apart 180 HBS, another offshoot from Thorsten Fischer's idea for the new Dayton Audio Chassis Series Signature. Theo Winterscheid and Thomas Ahlersmeyer were equally enthusiastic about the concept, so the development for the Apart 180 went to HiFi Selbstbau. Just like the choice of chassis, the housing concept and design were also adopted. In the development of the crossover, the ICY Medien team took their usual time and effort. The result is coherent, despite different developers of the series.
The Apart180 is certainly the more mature version, no, fully grown. It powerfully delivers low tones and bass with authority and precision, transporting them deep and rumbling towards the ear canal. The tonal gene of the Signature series is also inherent in the SIG180-4, and its powerful bass capability is by no means all it offers. It delivers midrange with faithful color and homogeneity, perfectly suited to every music genre. The GRS PT2522C-4 ribbon tweeter shines with its large surface, stress-free, elegant, and detail-oriented. Additionally, it offers enough reserves for personal adaptation to room conditions, even in heavily dampened rooms, it can still illuminate tonally. The harmoniously lowest crossover frequency ensures seamless integration. Even in terms of macro dynamics, the Apart180HSB proves to have real resilience. The Apart180HSB fits seamlessly into the Apart series, thus complementing a range that has something suitable for every HiFi enthusiast. That it is also affordable is another convincing argument in our view.

After hours of painstaking engineering and testing with meticulous attention to detail, we at Dayton Audio deem this driver line worthy of the endorsement of even the most critical audiophile. Key Features Extensive Klippel LMP and LSI testing to optimize Bl symmetry and parameters Indexed cone/surround junction for smooth transition/frequency response Polyimide formers and aluminum shorting sleeve for improved inductance, damping, and frequency response One piece concave black anodized aluminum cone Vented former and elevated spider for improved air flow Open aluminum cast frame for improved heat dissipation Countersunk stainless steel magnet badging for long time aesthetics Dayton Audio SIG180-4 6.5” Signature Series Extended Range 80W Driver 4 Ohm The Dayton Audio Signature Series was designed to give DIY speaker designers access to the pinnacle of speaker technology at the value expected from Dayton Audio. Featuring an open aluminum cast frame, anodized aluminum cone and a polyimide former, these drivers can provide extended range with incredibly low distortion. Key Specs Nominal Diameter: 6-1/2" Power Handling (RMS): 80 watts Power Handling (MAX): 160 watts Impedance: 4Ω Frequency Response: 40 - 4,000 Hz Sensitivity: 91.0 dB @ 2.83V/1m Voice Coil Diameter: 31.8mm Maximum Linear Excursion: 5mm Signature Sound and Performance The smooth and extended frequency response of these Dayton Audio speaker drivers ensures that the entire audible spectrum is accurately reproduced, from the lowest bass notes to the highest treble frequencies. This well-balanced frequency response delivers a natural and immersive listening experience, allowing you to hear every detail and nuance in your favorite music or movies. Meticulous Attention to Detail The speaker drivers' design, materials, and meticulous engineering work in harmony to minimize distortion, ensuring that the sound remains clean and clear even at high volumes. By achieving low distortion, these speaker drivers provide an accurate representation of the original audio signal, allowing audiophiles to enjoy a true-to-life listening experience with exceptional clarity and precision. The Signature Series speaker drivers used rigorous Klippel testing throughout the design process, a state-of-the-art analysis method to provide optimal performance, consistency, and reliability by precisely measuring and optimizing the drivers' magnetic and mechanical properties. Featuring the innovative use of aluminum shorting sleeves, our speakers deliver unmatched audio performance. These Faraday rings, expertly situated around the driver's pole piece, not only stabilize the magnetic field but also significantly reduce inductive distortion. The result? Consistent, high-quality sound in every note. Thanks to aluminum's superior conductivity, every audio signal is transmitted efficiently and without distortion. Indexed Cone and Surround Junction Diffraction caused by the abrupt edge of the surround is minimized by the use of an indexed junction. This design feature helps create a smooth transition between the cone and surround, resulting in improved frequency response while improving the rigidity of the cone further resulting in less cone distortion at high excursion. Vented Polyimide Former with CCA Voice Coil Wire and Elevated Spider Suspension The polyimide voice coil formers provide excellent mechanical damping and a smoother frequency response, and the copper-clad aluminum (CCA) wire reduces moving mass further enhancing the overall sound quality and increasing the efficiency of the speaker driver. An elevated spider and vented former increases airflow to the coils to keep the assembly running cool during long periods of use. Concave Black Anodized Aluminum Cone The aluminum construction of the cone is lightweight, rigid, and helps reduce distortion, contributing to a more accurate sound reproduction. The anodization process is optimized to contribute to the dampening of the cone and provides high aesthetic value to any speaker design. Open Aluminum Cast Frame and CNC'd Stainless-Steel Badging The aluminum cast frame keeps movement isolated to the diaphragm, increasing low frequency performance and providing additional thermal dissipation. Stainless-steel badging completes the sleek aesthetic of the Signature Series drivers providing a timeless visual appeal for every speaker designer.

With a low mass diaphragm and powerful motor, the GRS PT2522C-4 planar sealed back tweeter delivers high efficiency output with excellent transient response. The low profile sealed back allows this tweeter to be installed easily into conventional speakers without the need for a separate sub-enclosure. Remarkably smooth frequency response gives the PT2522C-4 an incredibly natural but dynamic sound. Key Features Extremely low mass diaphragm provides excellent transient response and accuracy Large diaphragm produces high efficiency and wide bandwidth Multiple neodymium magnets in push pull arrangement for incredible control and low distortion Remarkably flat response even at 30 degrees off axis Linear impedance simplifies crossover design Shallow mounting depth for use in low profile designs The GRS PT2522C-4 sealed back planar tweeter is designed to deliver high efficiency with extremely smooth response. Thanks to a lightweight damped Polyethylene Naphthalate film diaphragm that is driven by 6 powerful neodymium magnets in a push-pull arrangement, this driver is capable of incredible transient response and low distortion. The linear 3.4 ohm impedance makes crossover design simple and minimizes the number of components required to achieve your required roll off. In addition, the low profile sealed rear chamber isolates the rear side of the diaphragm for simple installation into conventional enclosures. The PT2522C-4 is a perfect choice for use as a drop in replacement in existing systems or for use in new designs where low distortion and accurate response is needed.

Initially, it was alonger and deeper tuned line planned, but for a bit more level stability, aAbstimmung omitted at 45Hz. This works absolutely satisfactorily, as we find. A -3dB-Point at 70Hz, which extends to 60Hz depending on room acoustics, ensures tight bass without excessivewummernd zu wirken. The frequency response shows a gentle decrease over the entire range, with abovefrom 12kHz there is still a slight increase to note, which, however, does not make a noticeable difference in sound. The crossover frequency is at 2000Hz with an 18dB slope, an impedance linearization, andVoltage divider before the tweeter, which works wonderfully with resistance values in a 12-series +1dB/-1dBcan be regulated. The insulation is easy to perform. At the beginning (in the tapered part), it is tightly packed, with aMatte polyester batting in the format 45-50cm x 45-50cm is used, which reaches up to the top edge of theSeparation component is sufficient. At the larger end of the line, below the BR pipe, another mat is placed withapproximately 45cm x 45cm polyester wadding tightly rolled, so that the inner end of the tube remains free.
